Gabba Gabba Hey!!!

Remember when these guys defined cool?

Of course you don't! But's that's all right by the Greatwhiteshark. Feelin fine after our first iTunes challenge.

Good fun. Not very good tunes by GWS standards, but good for the masses. Next time we'll have a Dead challenge and you'll have to name the tune plus the date and venue of the show!!!

Anyway, we (the royal we) think we need more iTunes challenges. But we need to make them a bit less challenging. Like, do we really need a foolish rowdy audience? Wouldn't it be better if we just brought our playas and rocked?

What do y'all feel on this one? Audience or no audience? What about having different genres? Like one week we could do psychedelic rock, the next we could do disco, or even (heaven forbid) country. What genres would you like to see out there for competition? And do you think they should be kept separate? Or would you like to do an event where each round is a new genre?

Also, wouldn't it be kind of dope to force armies to bring one of their DP overlords to play?

I'm looking into a buzzer system for 6 teams, BTW. Because the 3 buzzer system is all right, but 6 is mor better. Or, we could get one that "goes to eleven."

For five easy points: first STUDENT war council rep to post a comment that gives an opinion on some of the above idears AND tells us what the above quote references. Students ONLY for points in this contest. (Sorry MJL--like I told RMaddox earlier today, some things are just too easy for the DPOverlords....)

Would love to hear from more of you. Let's use this blog and get the idears flowing kind-like. Just click on the comment link and spout forth thy wisdom.

Cheers!

Hi. I'm commenting. I could win the 5 points right now if I wanted to. Only that wouldn't be fair. Nice victory tonight for The CPU btw. 20 pts for them. 2nd place was the Stepdads (10 pts for them). 3rd place goes to the Robats (5 pts).

Umm. Horde? Horde? Did the Horde even score any points at all tonight? Did they even bring enough playas? What's that saying about the bigger they are the harder they fall? Is this just a glitch or is it the beginning of a tide-change?

So, I don't know if I'm allowed to comment - since I wasn't there tonight. BUT - I'd just like to say that it seems like having an audience is very much in the spirit of dorm wars. Even if you're not playing, you're there to support your army and have some school spirit, and be a part of the big event. Perhaps if the audience is too rowdy/foolish, we need some guidance for audience behavior, the same way we need to step up the sportsmanship.

idk mr whiteee i think audiences are important in all events.. and i think that keeping the genres mixed up might work best just because very few people are like experts in each type of music you know? so if its mixed up you get way more people into it and participating.. and the dormparents doing it would be awesomeee

and goes to eleven is from spinal tap. is there another quote in theree i cant find it?

dang. the cpu is on the MOVE. 5 pts to army 2. pays to wake up on a day off....
Spinal Tap is most definitely correct.

Now what we really need is a "name that scene" kind of game. Anyone ever played "Scene it?"

There was no reggae or R&B, old or new, except for 'Georgia on My Mind' (which i was really surprised that no one knew) and there was no GOOD and/or old hip-hop. The overlords should have to play, it would be pretty funny. And i guess it's up to everyone else about the audience. And "goes to eleven" is from that old comedy band Spinal Tap

yeah, the music was mostly pop. i did throw in some reggae and older songs, but they were on the later rounds that we never got to.
i think i erred in making the tunes a bit TOO mainstream (taken from top 100 charts, etc).

in the future we should specialize and get more people involved in creating the playlists.

Yeah, I like the audience being there and I know girls in Lillard really wanted to go and support. I would like some more 80s and 90s jams. I went in expecting to buzz in "Tubthumping by Chumbawumba".
